Houston Area Women's Center (HAWC)
Center and shelter dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence. Offers National, State, and Local statistics as well as other domestic violence information. Detailed information on the FREE, 24-hour services offered by the center and ways to volunteer/help/support HAWC and the women and children of Houston.
National Organization for Women (NOW)
Site features current news, NOW-sponsored legislation, articles from National NOW Times, information on how to become involved in the advocacy for women's rights, and information and articles concerning key women's issues, such as abortion, equality, Global Feminism, military, etc.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America
Wealth of information about birth control, abortion, pregnancy and parenting, and much more. Site includes articles, press releases, fact sheets, newsletters, and other links. User can also read a question and answer section from a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist.
Planned Parenthood of Houston & Southeast Texas
Offers sex and health information, articles, information on services offered, and other links. Similar to above site but with Texans and Houstonians specifically in mind.
South Asian Women's Network (SAWNET)
Features many articles written by South Asian women about a wide array of issues facing South Asian women. Includes news about South Asian women as well as links to women's organizations around the world. Topics such as health, marriage, divorce, sexuality, and domestic violence are discussed.
Women Against Fundamentalism (WAF)
Organization dedicated to defining fundamentalism and educating women about the dangers and manifestations of fundamentalism. Site features an online journal with many articles discussing global issues of fundamentalism. Additionally, the site includes an “Education Pack” which provides users with an introduction to issues of fundamentalism.
