  • Dominant culture (do what you can!--more in course's 2nd half)

  • Optional: “Model Minority”

3. Research report proposal (may be prepared ahead of time) (0-30 minutes)

Format: Open-book, open-notebook

2 options for taking exam

  • in-class: 7-9:50pm during class period; write in ink in bluebook or on notebook paper (fronts and backs of pages okay; single-spacing okay). In-class midterms are graded separately from emails.

  • email: 3-4 hours anytime after class on Thursday 15 October and before 3pm Friday, 23 October; write in Word or Rich Text Format file; attach and paste into email message to whitec@uhcl.edu (or reply to my email)
    • You may take breaks and write the midterm's 3 parts in installments plus review and revision.

Advance preparations:

  • Complete your Research Report Proposal ahead of time and submit it with the rest of your midterm or compose it while writing your exam.

  • For your Web Review, prepare by previewing what you want to review. Make notes on what to say about submissions you like or differ with.

  • Plan and practice your essay answer as much as helpful, but do the actual writing in the time limits.
